HUMC Ministries
SWAP Sharing With Appalachian People is a home repair ministry that serves low-income families in several counties of southeastern Kentucky and West Virginia. Typically, SWAP provides week-long service opportunities to school, college, youth and inter-generational church groups, ages 15 and up. Shorter and longer term experiences are available on request during “non-summer” months, and are great options for retirees.
Upward Sports Want a place where you child can learn to play basketball or be a cheerleader in a safe and understanding environment? The Upward Program is designed to teach the fundamental skills in an environment that is focused on learning rather than winning.
During each practice there is a designated devotion and scripture time designed to teach Christian Values.
Games take place on Saturday mornings in the church gymnasium. And yes, we have the best refreshments around! Super cooks and super food!

JUMP JUMP stands for Jesus Unites Many People, and the JUMP program is designed to do just that. The program begins with a meal served at 6:00 PM. After the meal, there is a time of singing and an introduction to the lesson topic for the children's program. This is followed by a Bible lesson in the various classes. The adults have a separate class while the children are having their lesson. The lessons for adults and children are designed in a six to eight week long study. Upon completing that six to eight week period, the children have a program to which the parents are invited to attend.
Children's Worship and Wonder This is the children's worship service that
happens after the singing in the main church service. This is
modeled just like a regular church service, but brought down to a
child's level so that the children will learn the meaning of
worship. Worship and Wonder is a special part of what the church has
to offer and is another way that God pours His Blessings out through
the church. So feel welcome to bring your children and let them
experience worship in an environment they can understand while you
are in the main church worship service.
Mighty Methodist Youth Group Does your child complain of boredom on Sunday evenings? Want a positive way to change that? This youth group is for grades 7th through 12th. Meetings
start at 4:00 pm in the church and are a great way to give your child a chance to
learn more about what God has planned for their life and enjoy the
company of others. Trips, concerts, and ministry are just a few of the activities enjoyed by the Mighty Methodist Youth Group.

Music Ministry Hindman United Methodist Church is proud to be led each Sunday morning and at special events by our Praise and Worship Team. Covering music that ranges from traditional Hymns of the Faith to contemporary worship music, the Praise and Worship Team is overjoyed to be given the opportunity to do the work of the Lord in such a spirit-filling way.
Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School or VBS for short is a fun filled week of learning about God's great love for each and every one of us. It is a time for crafts, games, music, and skits.
VBS helps children learn about religion while building a lifetime of memories and friendships.
Our VBS is usually in the month of June and runs for two hours a day for four days. Our program serves children in preschool through 12th grade.
